Eternal Card Game – Dee’s Rakano MR – Red Bracers

This is the current deck I’m using to climb Ranked Masters this January 2019 Chapter. It’s a Midrange Rakano brew with main cards being valkyries like Icaria, The Liberator, Rizahn, Greatbow Master, Amilli, Cloudmarshal with Copperhall Bracers. It runs a Ixtun Merchant to be able to fish for red utility cards like Bore, Cauldron Cookbook, Deepforged Plate etc.

The goal for this deck is to play evasive early threats then hit hard with Copperhall Bracers to ramp out your bigger valkyries. Copperhall Bracers provide +4 Attack with the ability to draw and play a Justice Sigil if your unit hits the opponent’s Face. It also has Spellcraft 1 Copperhall Blessing, which gives you the option of making the unit and your face invulnerable to damage that turn. You generally want to use these on your small valkyries like Icaria, Valkyrie Captain or Valkyrie Enforcer as you are able to protect them both by giving them Aegis with Rolant’s Intervention. The bracers are also very good mid-late game as it pushes 9 damage across with Rizhan and Icaria. The opponent usually faces a lose lose scenario if they are unable to remove the bracered unit since it takes big chunks of life and gives you ramp if face is struck.

FAQS – updates regularly

Is 25 Power enough?
– You generally want to have 28-32 power/power sources depending on what type of deck you have. 25 base + 2 Seek Power + 2 Privilege of Rank (4) = 31. After some intensive playtesting, I feel this is enough to get Icaria out reliably when you have her.

Why do you only have 1 Cauldron Cookbook?
– Multiple cookbooks in Rakano is too slow for this AGGRO favored meta. You want to assert pressure early and cookbook doesn’t help with that at all. I usually just pull it out if I know I am up against control or need draw mid game.

Why don’t you have Finest Hour?
– Finest Hour is only good if you are going to trade. Since majority of the units are evasive(Flying), you don’t need it.

Why Red Merchant instead of Green?
– I’ve experimented with both. Red is better mainly for easy access to Bore and with it being a 3/2 body with overwhelm, it’s can push through face with Copperhall Bracers. Red also gives you access to Cauldron Cookbook. Green merchant options are limited to removal and another Privilege of Rank.

Why is it so hard to play Icaria?
– You might not being ramping hard enough. Utilize baby Icarias, Bulletshapers and Bracers early! Don’t be afraid to take a few hits early to progress your power gain. You can always board sweep with Harsh Rule if things turn critical.

What is Deepforge Plate for?
– It’s great for go wide match ups. Slap this on any of the big valkyries to be able to attack and defend. This is an auto win in Skycraggro and Pyraxis tokens if used timely.

When do you Harsh Rule?
– If you are getting overrun-ed or the opponent just dropped a big threat/s. Also keep an eye on how many cards they have in hand before your rule. You don’t want to wipe the board then have more units drop next turn. Taking a few hits to set up a bigger value Harsh Rule is key. Life is also a resource; as long as it isn’t 0, you are fine.

Match ups Soon.

-Dee
