I promised myself that I’d be more vocal about games this year. There are a lot of games out there, most are just bad, but sometimes you find a hidden gem amongst the clutter. One of them is Eternal Card Game.
What is Eternal card game?
Eternal is a fast paced free-to-play Digital Card Game with a look and feel of Hearthstone, with similar mechanics from Magic: The Gathering that I love. The game offers multiple AI and PvP modes with the most generous card award system in any modern DCG. If you are a F2P player and prefer grinding out your card collection, then this is the game for you!
Deck Building
The game offers a lot of flexibility in deck building with the only limitations being your deck must have/contain:
- a minimum of 75 cards
- only have 4 copies of the same card(not including normal power cards)
- 1/3 of the deck should be Power/Mana
Your deck comprises of unit, attachment, site, spell, and power cards each with a special ability/text in different faction/colors. The main factions are Fire(Red), Time(White), Justice(Green), Primal(Blue), and Shadow(Black).

Cash Tournaments
The game has been in early access for a few years and just recently on November 15, 2018, the game transitioned into Full Release. Since the official release, Dire Wolf Digital has announced Eternal World Championship 2019 which offers a $100,000 prize pool! DWD held its first cash qualifier on November 11, 2019 which had a prize pool of $5,000 with chances of ECQ Points and Worlds Invites for the top 2.
Casual Friendly
As a Casual player, I’ve had better luck with the Master’s Challenge were you can gain ECQ points when you rank Top 100 every month. However, with the influx of new players and the meta changing every month, it has gotten harder to maintain it consistently. It is still fun to test how your deck matches up to other decks every month. Here’s a pic I posted on Instagram ranking 58th during the October Master’s Challenge.

I see the prize pools getting bigger as the game becomes more popular and dives into eSports. This is just the beginning and feel that it is the perfect time to join in.

Eternal is currently available on PC, Mobile(Android and iOS) and XBOX One at time of writing this. It’s a great time killer on Mobile!

I recommend the game to anyone wanting a Magic: The Gathering fix without the costs and any casual player looking to get into digital card games. It’s an easy game to pick up, learn and start brewing. I believe my play time shows that I enjoy this game very much!
